PRIZE WINNER: Tod FitzkeKOD Don Mikulka introduced his neighbor and friend Retired Marine Sgt. Joe Ryan and the speaker Sgt. JP Monahan.
Sgt. Monahan is now a local recruiter for the USMC. He has recently retuned from Iraq where he saw combat with the Combined
Action Platoon. They are the military equivalent of calling 911 because they are called to go into the extremely dangerous
situations. Sgt Monahan recounted numerous interesting stories of his war experience. He made the point that the good deeds
the military is doing in Iraq don’t get into the news papers. Things such as building 6 schools and distributing food to the
Iraqi people.
Sgt. Monahan suggested that if we wanted to do something for the troops, we could “Adopt A Marine”. If you are interested, go to
www.850koa.com then click on “Gunny Bob Show” then click on “Marines ready for adoption”. If
you are not on line, contact Ken Bradley at 303.756.8084. He has printed out a list of the Marines in Delta Company. This is a
project worthy of our support. These Marines are in combat in Iraq and would love to get mail and an encouraging word from home.
June Birthdays:
Happy Birthday to John Hughes – June 3
Happy Birthday to Don Mikulka – June 5
About Friendship: courtesy of Bernie Polak
“ A friend whom you have been gaining your whole life, you ought not be displeased with in a moment.
A stone is many years becoming a ruby; take care that you do not destroy it in an instant against another stone.”
Saadi
“ The only way to have a friend, is to be one.”
Emerson
