This school is for at risk youth and is often their last chance for an education. It was founded 21 years ago and now has a Denver and an Aurora location. Amanda is a graduate of the Denver Street School herself so she can speak from first hand experience. Her personal life story was inspirational. She told how she over came a numerous problems including being homeless as a teen, and drug addiction. She graduated from the Denver Street School and is now happily married and working for the school. The school attempts to maintain a 10 students to each teacher ratio so the students can get personalized attention. Most of the school’s funding comes from individuals but they receive funds from corporations and churches. They now have 70 students and will graduate 10 this year. Many students go on to college and successful carriers.
